Summer smarty pants

The number one question I get as a teacher: How can I make sure my child doesn't lose all their learning this summer? Kids tend to dip during the summer because their brain muscles aren't being exercised. It also makes August REAL tough for you and them.

First, I would suggest tutoring with me 1-2x a week. Tutoring will provide your child with the resources and tools to keep their learning up to speed this summer. Here are some other helpful ideas:

*Have a somewhat of a schedule: don't let every day be a free for all. Schedule learning time. Mornings work best.

*Don't over do it! You don't want your child to feel burnt out or to stop liking learning. 30 minutes to an hour a day is plenty.

*Make it fun! Check out my summer activities list on here :)

*Focus on your child's interests

*Read to them and with them daily

*Visit your local library and let them pick out books

*Go on field trips (zoo, botanical gardens, museums, state parks)

*Don't reward learning/school time. Set the standard that this is normal and a part of each day.

Hope this helps :)

with love,

Megan Rattray
