Thanksgiving break ideas💡
Let your children help with cooking! Following a recipe is great for learning how to follow directions and older kids can help with measuring! The measuring skills are perfect to enhance mathematical thinking.
Black Friday shopping? Bring your kids along or have them add up items you bought to practice their math skills. Older kids can round and estimate the totals too.
Make cards! Kids of any age can write and make thanksgiving cards for family and friends. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be creative and get some writing in!
Thankful writing and sharing. What are you and your family thankful for? Have your child share and write about it.
Nature hunt! I love a good scavenger hunt and the weather is perfect. Some ideas: find a red leaf, orange leaf, brown leaf, stick, rock, a colorful tree, etc
Play a board game. Family games are so amazing for teaching kids about cooperation, patience, and following directions. Plus, they are fun!
Get ready to donate! Go through old clothes and toys with your child and take them to goodwill. Not only does it clear out room for the holidays, it also teaches about giving.
Thanksgiving parade scavenger hunt! I saw tons of cute print outs on Pinterest for this.
Grocery shopping! Take your child with you to prepare for thanksgiving dinner. Have them add up prices or round up prices if 3rd and above. What’s the total going to be? See who can guess the closest!
Read, read, read! Read about the history of thanksgiving, or really anything. It’s always a great idea to use any extra time reading. Maybe start a chapter book with your child.
